Monday Fun Fact! June 1st

National Pen Pal Day

from docs.google.com

Pen Pals are people that you keep in contact with through letter writing.  You can share your life experiences with them and ask them about life where they live.  Pen Pals can live in other parts of your state,  your country, or even in the world.  It is a wonderful way to find out how other people think and live and believe.  You may never meet your pen pal face-to-face, but you will learn a lot about your world AND improve your writing ability!

There are many websites that you can go to and find information about pen pals.  Ask a trusted adult to help you.

Fun Fact 2:

On Saturday, May 30th, the Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Crew Dragon space capsule lifted off the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center and entered space, heading for the International Space Station.  This is the first time since 2011 that the United States has been able to bring astronauts to the International Space Station in its own rocket.

Astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley say goodbye to their families before getting into the NASA Tesla to drive to the launchpad.

Bob and Doug patiently wait in the Crew Dragon capsule while their Falcon 9 rocket gets fueled up for liftoff.

And it's LIFTOFF!!

Traveling at speeds of over 20,000 mph, the Falcon 9 rocket heads into orbit.
On Friday, we'll check in to the International Space Station to see the moment Bob and Doug entered and greeted the ISS astronauts.

Have a great day!  See you on Friday!
